Welcome, Spring 2017!
Welcome, first day of spring! Living in Utah means that no matter what the calendar says, we still count on snow until at least the first of May, but we are grateful for whenever we can get some sunshine and warm days during these next few months. I have had some extra time these last few weeks and the weather has cooperated nicely so I could get out and work in my yard for an hour a day or so, and it has felt wonderful! I didn’t get around to making our yard winter-ready last fall (I was recovering from a stressful summer with a beautiful wedding for our daughter in September) and so I have been cleaning up leaves and cutting down perennials and doing a general clean-up that has been needed for quite a while. It is good for the soul to dig in the dirt a little and make our patch of earth better because we were there. I feel fortunate to live in an area of the world that enjoys all four different seasons and I know they each hold a beauty and joy that is uniquely their own. Summer means longer, relaxed days with swimming and camping and more time with kids, fall means more structure, getting out sweaters and enjoying the changing leaves, winter is beautiful for cozying up under a blanket and enjoying a good book or a fun board game, but spring means the promise of new life with renewed strength and vigor. We are truly blessed to witness the wonders around us, and I am grateful to enjoy another spring in my life.
